The return of puppetry & Utopia

Well dear readers what have I been up to this week I hear you ask. Well this week marked the first week of working on puppetry 2017. This year it is entitled 'The Desert Daydreamer' and is to be performed at Dyffryn Gardens at the end of the month. As is always the case the SM team come into the process half way through so the week was very much spent playing catch-up with the design team, but all seems to be going well (I hope!).

The delightful Wanda Ventham (at last!)
Come the weekend and I left Cardiff behind, heading for Oxfordshire, for Jess's first proper convention. Utopia is one that Dad and I have been going to for years, and is always a very relaxing weekend away. This year was no disappointment with quite a line-up including Wanda Ventham (Mrs Sherlock). What was rather surreal was to watch that week’s episode at the event on Saturday night and to then meet the villain on the Sunday (I think that must be the quickest turn around for a convention ever). Amongst the guests that I sat with was a Dalek operator from the 1960s who had such a sharp wit and was very pleased to say that he’d just done the latest Irn-Bru advert (it’s very funny, give it a watch). Whilst Dad and I were busy all weekend, Jess enjoyed the features of the hotel which I never even knew existed! I think for all of us it was a relaxing weekend away.
