Helen visits & Jess makes a surprise trip to London
It seems to have been a surprisingly busy
week I must say dear reader. The first few days were quiet, but Wednesday
evening Helen arrived in Cardiff for a short stay. Whilst Wednesday was quiet,
the three of us went to Barry for a wander. Sadly it was a little windier than
expected, but I think we all enjoyed our visit walking up and down the beach
(sorry Dad, we didn’t go in the sea this time). After a good wander (and being
blown to pieces) we had fish and chips (how could we not) and got back on the
train to visit the international swimming pool again which was surprisingly busy,
but enjoyable none the less.
Following a busy Thursday, Friday was a
later, quieter start as we headed down to the bay to go bowling. Whilst none of
us were experts, we all enjoyed it and had fun (although I did win both games,
not that it was a competition obviously). Despite not quite getting out timings
right we then enjoyed a pizza (well pasta for Helen and Jess), before visiting
the WMC to see ‘Grease’ which none of us had seen, surprisingly. Whilst there
were a few technical issues that delayed the show it was a great show, very full
on and a lot of fun; I hadn’t quite realised how many of the songs I knew, or at
least had heard before. As we left it struck me that it was only my second
visit to the WMC since living in Cardiff, so I think I may very well be heading
back for another show soon.
Saturday I disappeared leaving Jess to see
Helen off (I did let Helen know, I didn’t just disappear I should add). I
wandered off to Chiswick for a busy day with a range of guests, but including a
reunion of an 80s episode. However I realised that I forgot three books that I
was supposed to get signed for a friend. I text Jess asking if they were still
in the room and within minutes she decided to jump on a train (literally) and came all the way from
Cardiff to London, just to deliver three books! This alone was quite amazing,
but given the fact that Jess has never been on the underground on her own (and
is scared of doing so), she made it across London to find me (amazing or
what!). Come the end of the event (and amazing delivery of the books), we
wandered across to Hamleys as Jess has never been before heading back to
Cardiff (Jess was on a train more than she was in London). I think it’s safe to
say Saturday was unexpectedly busy for all involved! Sunday was spent, as ever,
catching up on normality after a very busy week.
