A trip to Voga (in Somerset)
I am delighted to realise that I am spending a number of
weekends in Bristol at the moment with Martin and Gary as it is always a lot of
fun; this weekend was no exception to that.
I headed across on Saturday and we went for a day out to
Voga (we'll Wookey Hole, but Voga if you're a Who fan). I always drive past the
sign saying I should go and for once I remembered when I wasn't driving
somewhere else (I'm impressed I must say). After a rather scenic route (I
shouldn't reply so much on a satnav) we arrived and made straight for the
caves. Now we should have been paying attention to the guide and all that,
however Martin and I dragged our feet, took lots of daft photos and played with
a Cyberman figure (Gary was not so daft). The caves are fascinating, Who aside
and I'm glad to have finally made it down there. Not only are there caves, but
for kids there is plenty to do to really make it a day out so we had a wander
around, through the dinosaur park and diving area before enjoying a drink
(we'll not me) of cave wine which I'm told was quite something. Despite not
doing everything in great deal after the caves it was a day out for us, before
heading back and watching any number of old (we'll pre-me) TV series.
Sunday was a trip to London (I can't go a weekend without a
visit) to the BFI. This time it was for a new DVD of Tom Baker's last story,
for which we (Martin and I) were able to take a few people along, including
Margot. It was a lovely day and topped off with an evening in the bar catching
up with Adrian and Margot which is always a joy.
Having left London far later than expected (only because we
were having a good time) it made for a late return to Cardiff, but certainly
worth it after yet another very busy and fun weekend with Martin and Gary.
