There’s no such thing as Macra
After a busy week, mainly of nights shoots it was an early
start as I headed off to London on Saturday (no change there). This week I visited
the BFI for a screening of the next Who DVD, ‘The Macra Terror’. Mo Lane (remember
her from a Chiswick signing) was in this story as it happens so we made a day
of it. Catching up beforehand and then enjoying the new animation it was a
lovely day and I think Mo enjoyed it, even if her animated self-looked nothing
like her as she pointed out. Afterwards there was a short Q&A with Anneke
Wills of which Mo joined in for and seemed to go down well. For me it was great
to see the animation and to catch-up with Mo, but I think she was rather amazed
just how much interest the whole thing received (not bad from something made 52
years ago). Afterwards we had a chat with the other guest and organisers in the
green room before heading home after a lovely day all round.
For once I was back to Wales for a reasonable hour as Dad
and Helen stayed to see the rugby (Wales won) so we went out for a meal before
an early night which we all rather needed. Following a very leisurely start and
a cooked breakfast which seemed to go down well, we ventured across to Ogmore-by-Sea
for a walk along the beach as for once it was sunny and not quite so windy. Having
said that an hour’s walk was enough for us all as the wind was blown through
us. It made for a very relaxed day and for me a reminder of just how nice Wales
is, as I’m not often exploring and enjoying it, more dashing around back to
England.
