Aldbourne and more laughter
Well after six months, this Friday all came to an end on the
thing I can’t talk about. It’s no secret that I’ve been working on ‘His Dark Materials’
so I think this video sums up Friday really https://twitter.com/darkmaterials/status/1073639534372511744
It’s been a great first job (as in paid, proper job) and such a fun experience,
sadly though I expect I will have forgotten most of it by the time it does come
out and I can talk about it, we’ll see.
With the end of filming come Saturday I popped across to
Bristol to spend a lovely weekend as ever with Martin and Gary. Initially we
had talked about doing something for my birthday, but then I ended up working
it so this weekend was a last-minute change. For a change it was a leisurely
start to the weekend (makes a change) before heading across to Aldbourne. You
may ask why Aldbourne dear reader, well it was used in a rather popular Who
story in the 70s and was a key part of it, but I’ve never been there. Martin
use to live there so it was the perfect excuse for me to ask if we could go. Sadly,
however it wasn’t the best day for it (it chucked it down all day!), but it did
mean it was perfect weather for a cosy pub lunch (sadly its not called the
Cloven Hoof) followed by a quick dash around the village before heading into Marlborough
on our route back for a potter around some rather good charity shops. As we
headed back (all rather soaked), we agreed a return visit when it’s a bit nicer,
is certainly in order.
It so happened that it was the Strictly final that night so
for the first time in a fair while and if I’m honest I rather enjoyed it (I think
that was due more to the company though). Following a busy day and as ever a
day full of laughter Sunday was a leisurely start, watching a few episodes of ‘The
New Avengers’ (which I think are brilliant) whilst having a full English (what’s
not to like about Bristol?). Having initially only intended to be there for the
day, I headed back Sunday afternoon.
