Faffing around in London

For once I am able to talk about more than just my weekend, makes a change. It seems very much to have been a London week really, as I spent most days there.

Monday was a leisurely start to the week (makes a change) as I popped across to Soho for lunch and a catch-up with Tony Virgo. As ever always a great laugh and what was initially supposed to be just lunch became all day (not a surprise really). Thankfully Tony knows Soho better than I so he knew where we should go.

Despite what I've said I did have two days not in London this week. Tuesday and Wednesday were spent faffing around (well mainly watching a few DVDs and sorting out the flat) in Cardiff before I headed up north on Wednesday at long last, only to be heading back to London in Thursday.
Mum and I had booked a few theatre trips in London, of which our first was 'Switzerland' a rather brilliant two hander that I had sadly missed in Bath earlier in the year. As ever we had a relaxed day, which included the usual trip to the National Portrait Gallery for a cuppa and cake before the show. I absolutely loved the show as it was very well constructed, leaving the audience guessing until the very end and I was certainly still thinking about it afterwards (we even brought the script). As you might have guessed we stage doored it and had a chat to both actors who were ever so charming. To round off a lovely day we went for a meal before we headed our separate ways as I was to stop with Martin and Joaquin (I never like to miss a chance to catch-up with people). Whilst I arrived into the evening as ever my first night with them was spent catching up and laughing a great deal (as ever).

Friday was less busy day, accompanying them to a Chinese meal (in Chinatown would you believe) with a few of their friends and family which was a great way to spend the afternoon. Being so close by, we spent the rest of the day in The French, where Martin seems to know everyone.

Having only seen one show so far, Saturday was another theatre trip for Mum and I. Again, meeting for cake and a cuppa, but this time having a little longer to explore the Gallery before heading across to our second show, 'Everybody’s Talking About Jamie'. Beforehand we stage doored not one but two shows (it's very easy when they are all so close). As ever Mum had done us proud with great seats. It really was a great feelgood musical about accepting who you are with some very nice choreography and a beautiful set design. Following Thursday's pattern, we rounded off the day with another meal out (lucky me) before we once again headed our separate ways.

Having had a rather quiet week, I was surprised just how tired I was but then it was nice to be able to enjoy a lie-in for a change. Sunday was another relaxed day, as the three of us headed out for a Christmas do (gathering seems a bit formal) over at Ralph's (remember him from Telford?). Ralph is always a great host and it was full of people I knew, including the darling June and her sister Jill whom I spoke to for most of the do. It was such a lovely gathering and full of laughter. My surprisingly busy week was rounded off back in the flat, enjoying time with Martin and Joaquin; always fun.
