A festive Fantom
Despite by best efforts, the year really does seem to be
flying by and Christmas seems to be fast approaching. This weekend marked the
last signing for the year.
Following last week’s trend, I stopped with Martin and Gary
in Bristol on the Friday (again full of laughter). As ever for a Fantom,
Saturday was an early start as we headed off to Chiswick for a very busy day.
The draw for most this month was Richard Wilson, who I had the pleasure of
sitting with for a bit and was able to talk to him about some of his work. However
for me, it was lovely to catch-up with Nick Evans as he was signing in the
second session, as well as sitting with the charming Geoffrey Beevers. With the
end of the signing for a change, we didn’t go around the corner for a few, but
instead setup for the Fantom Christmas party which was great fun and a really
nice way to end the year as for once we didn’t all have to dash off. Whilst I
wasn’t very good at the TV and Film quiz (despite it being my secret Santa),
everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Following a late night back to Bristol we were all up fairly
early (thanks to me sadly) as I headed off back to Wales. However, Sunday was
Martin’s birthday (so I felt even worse that I got everyone up early and was cooked
breakfast) so we did a few quick birthday bits and recorded this week’s radio
show before I went. I detoured on my way back to call-in on Michael Craig and
his wife Sue as Fantom had organised a private signing. For me though, it was
an excuse to spend a delightful morning chatting to them both and drinking tea
(two of my special skills). Not wanting to outstay my welcome I finally headed
back to Cardiff and for a change still had something of Sunday to catch-up on normality,
which make as change indeed. All in all, it made for a very relaxing and enjoyable
weekend, still dashing around, but perhaps not quite as much as usual.
