‘Narrative’: Week Two

A still from one of my videos. Whilst it doesn't look that
interesting, layering content and adding effects is trickier
than it sounds!
As you may have guessed from the title of this week’s post, the focus of my week has once again been ‘Narrative’. We are now into week two of five, which has been mainly spent creating AV content.

Whilst Monday was spent gathering further content for the AV, the rest of the week saw Molly and I creating the AV and learning how to use various bits of software. Having not done any AV before, this was to be a challenge. However Douglas O’Connell was brought in for the show, as from the very beginning we knew there would be a lot to do. Doug is a freelance AV designer, having taught for a number of years and has worked all over the world. Doug spent the first day explaining the basics of After Effect and a few other bits of software, before Molly and I made a start on particularly bits of content for the rest of the week, with his help. By the time it came to Thursday I felt I’d learnt an awful lot, which was good, because on Friday, we were on our own, so we had to know what we were doing. So far (touch wood) we’ve been ok! As well as teaching us AV, Doug introduced me to ‘Laurence of Arabia’ and ‘The Lobster’; two films which I rather enjoyed. So I not only missed Doug for his AV expertise, but for his film suggestions, as I’ve got nothing to watch now!
After a very busy week of AV, the weekend was pretty quiet, spent mainly faffing around (how exciting!). Once again, I find myself wondering what will happen next week, with regards to the show, we shall see.
