Narrative: Week Four

Week four on ‘Narrative’, has been focused around the get-in. The first half of the week was spent putting in the set and sorting all technical elements. Molly and I have been doing all sorts: rigging, to focusing lights (aka playing on the tallescope, google it), building seating banks to shoveling six and a half tones of gravel; everyone is very busy.
Friday marked the first day that our cast came into the space and saw what we’ve been up to. They seemed to like the set and costumes, so I think we’re going in the right direction. With the cast in costume, Jo (the ASM) and I were allocated the job of mics for the show. Our main task is to check that they’re on and not visible on stage. Whilst it doesn’t sound difficult, it’s taking a time to master. Once we’d finished faffing around with mics we started the tec. As I write this now on Sunday, we have done a day and a half of tec, with another day to go. It’s been nice to see all the different elements coming together, particularly the AV. Perhaps most importantly though, we have a kettle for the show (no, not a prop one), so I’ve saved a fortune on tea (seriously, a fortune!).
I was glad to have the day off today (Sunday), as the week caught up on me and I needed a lie in, as well as a day to faff around, especially as I know it will be a busy, but enjoyable week to come!
The ever delightful Nicholas Parsons
Amongst the excitement of ‘Narrative’, I’ve signed the final paperwork for next year’s house, but it hasn’t really sunk in yet, and stupidly stayed up rather late watching films. After Thursday’s get-in, I managed to catch the ever delightful Nicholas Parsons after a concert at college that he was presenting. If you’ve read previous entries dear reader (you’d better have done!), you’ll know I met him a few months ago. As was the case before, he was a delightful gentlemen.
