Theatre and Sunday lunch
I could quite easily leave this weekend to the title as that
pretty much sums it up (if you're in a rush feel free to stop reading, the rest
is just waffle).
With the idea of a quiet weekend in Cardiff not sounding
very interesting (it never does so it is a rare thing) I headed off to London
to catch-up with Mum and for another trip to The Bridge theatre. This time the
show was 'A Very Very Very Dark Matter'. As ever we got there early and had a
cuppa (they always do rather good tea there it has to be said). As ever stage-dooring
was necessary and we met two Who actors, both of whom were very chatty (notice
I didn't say charming for a change). The show was quite something, utterly
brilliant. I'll be honest and say I had no clue what it was about, I saw that The
Bridge were doing it and the cast, so knew it would be good. I won't say too
much as I wouldn't want to spoil it, but I will say it was the most off the
wall, rather bonkers play, which still has a proper plotline that I have ever
seen, and laugh out loud funny. Apparently the critics have been divided by it
and I can perhaps see why, but I loved it. As ever our trip to The Bridge was
rounded off with a leisurely pizza before Mum and I headed back our respective
ways after a very enjoyable and as ever, fun day.
Sunday was another busy day as I popped down to see Frank in
Dorset. Despite the weather turning it was lovely to catch-up with Frank,
having not actually been down to see him in quite some time. We had a lovely
Sunday lunch as Frank’s local pub, before going back to the cottage to catch-up
and watch ‘Carmen Jones’ a gentile, but enjoyable film from the 1950s based on
the musical of the same name. Whilst it isn’t necessarily a film I would have
made a point of watching I rather enjoyed it. Particularly as the clocks have
gone back I soon found myself heading back to Cardiff feeling very relaxed.
