A week of December wanders
Having finished last week on a Saturday,
Sunday was an early start as I headed off to London, as part of a week of
wanders.
My first wander was a few days with Peter.
As ever we met and had a delightful catch-up over lunch, before heading back to
the flat. Time with Peter is always very relaxing and entertaining, spending
hours talking about the industry and great names of stage and screen. What was
nice though, was that I was able to pass on a message from Brian Blessed, as
both Peter and Brian worked together at the RSC in the 70s. It was lovely to be
able to pass on a message as to my knowledge they have not seen each other since.
Tuesday was an unexpected treat as we went to a local open mic Jazz night, not
one I'd been to before. As ever when visiting Peter I experience all sorts of
Jazz from a range of singers and this was no different with a great election
singing a few songs each.
Sadly come Wednesday I left London and
called in on Alan (Bennion for those have forgotten). Having not seen him on my
last few trips to Brighton it was lovely to be able to finally catch-up with
him again properly. As my visit was very close to Christmas I brought Alan the
figurine if his Doctor Who character (well one of them) which he was delighted
with (how many people can say they've been immortalised in resin?). After long overdue
catch-up (and some rather good cake), I wandered across to Eastbourne for a
stop off with Auntie Jess, who very kindly treated me to a meal out (see why I
go on wanders, I eat wonderfully, cake and a proper pizza in one day, what more
could I ask for!).
It was another early start as I headed home
(the early start being due to all sorts of train strikes, not all planned), however
I did eventually get home.
