Wanders around Wales
Following the weekend's excitement with Sam's family, we continued this week,
by seeing 'Boss Baby' on Monday. I had high expectations based on the trailer
but whilst it was funny in places and a nice film, it didn't quite live up to
my expectations, and it was surprisingly sad. Anyway everyone else seemed to
enjoy it so must just have been me.
As it has been surprisingly nice weather, we
ventured to Barry Island for the day, without Sam for some reason. Even as we
got off the train, Sam's sisters (there are three I should add) were excited
(always a good start). We walked along the beach, along some of the paths onto
the island and back for fish and chips (rather good ones I should add) before a
little more walking and an ice cream before heading back to Cardiff. Sadly they
had to head home Wednesday, but not before Sam and I joined them for a Premier
Inn breakfast (don't worry Dad I made sure I had enough to feed me foe the day,
as I didn't eat again until Thursday).
As has been the pattern of the last few weeks
Thursday was another train to meet a chap about a possible external placement
in a few weeks’ time. I thankfully got the placement but can't say much more
about it other than its TV/film based and looks very exciting! That night Jess
popped back to Cardiff, which was so nice, having not seen each other for a
fair few weeks (my fault I think). However Friday evening came and headed home
for the last week of our holiday.
It was yet another location on Saturday, as Mum,
Dad and I wandered off toe Clwyd to see ‘Gabriel’. This marked Mum and I’d
second trip to Clwyd, having seen ‘Rent’ earlier in the year. It was a very
naturalistic set, beautifully lit (see what I mean in the picture dear
reader?). Now I’ll be honest and say our main reason for going was to see Paul
McGann in it (although we didn’t stage door him). The play was set in Guernsey
during Nazi occupation (something which I never knew happened) and was very
much an ensemble piece which was very nice to see, with no one character being
the lead. Mr McGann was very good but so were the rest of the cast, all very
strong. It was a gorgeous day to drive there and back as it has been very sunny
this weekend, so a drive through the countryside was very much welcome.
Sunday has been spent preparing for my next set
of wanders this coming week, so next week’s entry should be interesting, or at
least I hope it will be dear reader.
