Wandering back home
After last week’s excitement, I’m not sure this week is able
to compete, so I’ll keep it brief(ish).
Again, forget Monday, nothing happened. Tuesday was the
penultimate day of paper props and my birthday (both of which were a shock). By
the end of the day, George and I had made a fair amount of WW1 things, including
matchboxes (they weren’t half fiddly!). Asides from paper props, Emma and Del
made a rather spectacular cake for me (just look at it, best cake I’ve ever
had!).
Wednesday was generally less exciting, although it marked the
first wander around Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland, which was rather fun. Having walked
past it for a few weeks, it was good to finally get to go round it. I’m still
not sure the wheel was a great idea, as it was a little windy and spun, but
once we (Cait and I) got over that, it was good fun, even if we were a little dizzy!
Whilst we only managed to watch the ice skating this year, I might make it onto
the ice next year, although I’m sure I’ll be very good.
Thursday marked the last day of paper props, as we presented
our efforts to Daz and Kellyanne, which seemed to go down well (I think our
Christmas jumpers may have been the secret). It seemed to take an age for them
to get round everyone else, so I went for another long wander around Cardiff,
this time to Grangetown; an interesting area to say the least. Thursday marked
visit number two to Winter Wonderland, this time without a wheel, but I won a
penguin, so I can’t complain!
To round the week off, I visited the Experience again (yes
dear reader, unsurprisingly nothing had changed in the six days since I’d last
been) but it was just as good, and yet again I spent more in the shop, than I
did to get in! The rest of the day was spent packing to go home on Sunday.
I’m now home properly, after 12 weeks (where has it gone?). I’ve
just about unpacked everything and it’s been birthday part two which was nice
(I’d forgotten it was my birthday this week until I wrote this week’s blog!). It
doesn’t really feel like I’ve ever been away, but I’ looking forward to
wandering off again in January. I feel as though there should be some sort of
summary of my time so far in Cardiff and thanking everyone for a wonderful time,
but those who I have spent most time with (hopefully) know that I’m grateful
for them putting up with me for so long!
