Being back ‘up north’

Today marks the end of my first week back home from Cardiff, and if I’m honest it’s been an odd week. It’s strange not to see everyone and be out of that routine, but at the same time it doesn’t feel like I’ve been away.
The first half of my week was spent pottering around (mainly unpacking) and doing various errands that I’d be set (lucky me!). Wednesday and Thursday saw me pop into my old sixth form to catchup with people (mainly in the Drama department). It was strange going back because despite nothing having changed; it felt very different (it has been six months since I was last there, so that may explain it). I was lucky in that my visit tied in with a run through of their panto. The panto was something which I’d been heavily been involved in before. I think it’s safe to say that they did a great job and certainly don’t need me (their jokes are far better).
'chocolate scones', whatever they are!
The rest of the week was spent baking, with various degrees of success. The first batch of mince pies went rather well (they didn’t last long, so I assume they were good), whilst the second batch are still a mystery. They started out as mince pies (spot the pattern dear reader), something went horribly wrong and I made them into cookies (yes dear reader, things were that bad). As a result, I’m not sure how I’d describe what I made; they’re not cookies or pastry goods, but according to my sister they are ‘like chocolate scones’ (apparently that’s good).
The final item of interest in my week was watching the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ this morning. We (Dad and I) decided that we wanted to see it at the IMAX, but as we only decided it last minute, we ended up seeing it at 8.00am (which meant an early start). It certainly didn’t disappoint! The scale and ambition were great, and worked brilliantly on the big screen; I left very excited about the next few films to come!
