London, once again
Well having at long last been back to London to see a show the
week before, I was back this weekend. This was another new theatre for me,
namely the Lyric Hammersmith to see ‘Noises Off’, for its 40th
anniversary revival. As is always the way with theatre trips, we met at the
theatre and stage doored. However, this was very civilised as the café was next
to the stage door so we had chance to tea and coffee. As well as meeting most
of the cast again (we are on a roll), Nicky Evans wandered in as he was meeting
a friend of his there and both were seeing the show. H waited elsewhere, but it
was so nice to see him and such a lovely surprise. Not only that but Louise
Jameson was seeing the show with a friend and they both joined us for a coffee
which was another unexpected surprise. The show was again brilliant and very
funny, with all of us leaving in tears or close. I can understand why it is so rarely
done, as it is a very demanding play, with a fairly large cast and a lot of set
and props, but certainly worth it. The theatre itself was a real surprise as
the outside was a 70s front, with the actual auditorium being a Matchem theatre
so was beautifully designed and old fashioned. After the show we said goodbye to
Nicky and Lou before a very relaxed trip to Pizza Express.
Much like last week (of which I seem to be repeating myself
dear reader), Sunday was a slower and more relaxing day, however spent in
Cardiff. Kitty got back from her holiday so it was a quiet day with her not
doing a great deal. However, we did see the Horrible Histories film having
thought we would see ‘Yesterday’, but didn’t quite manage it. Having said that
we did enjoy it, it was suitably daft and fun as the TV series is. Unlike most,
it did work well on the big screen and with a bigger budget because it was just
as daft and full of cameos. Having been very busy all week filming (still top
secret I’m afraid) it was a change not to be doing much and to not really have anything
of a plan for the day.
