Well, well, Wells
At last it seems to be summer, so we made the most of it on
Saturday and had a wander across (well down) to Wells. Now neither of us had
been but a lot of people said it was worth a visit. We had the perfect day for
it as it was gloriously sunny all day. Following a very relaxed drive down, we
pottered to our hearts content. By chance there was a local produce market on
so had a good look through all the local produce and jewellery as well as
wandering through the town, with no real purpose for a change. After a great
pub lunch, we headed across to the cathedral, which again is somewhere that
I've been told to visit before. It really doesn't disappoint, it's a beautiful
building, very much like Westminster Abbey really. Whilst we pottered again
(see the theme here?), I think we saw most of it. After a very relaxed day
enjoying pub lunches and cake we headed back.
Sunday was a different day as I found myself back in London
(I do sometimes wonder if I should live there instead). This time I was off to
a new place, The Pheasantry in Chelsea for Ralph's 80th (remember Ralph from
George Little's party?). I got their early as Ralphy asked for me to give him a
hand which was nice and it also meant I met everyone as they came in. Whilst
there were 80 guests, I think I managed to talk to most, or say hello to the
ones I knew (most as it happens). We were treated to a lovely meal, as well as
a fantastic jazz set from Elaine Delmear who was just brilliant! It was a day
full of laughter and a real celebration of Ralph's 80 years (amongst one hell
of a guest list!). After, I headed back briefly to Martin and Joaquin's as they
were at the party as well. Then it was back to Cardiff, having had a very busy,
but fun day as ever.
