A return to Devil’s End

As is the case with my weekends, this one wasn’t quite what I expected, but good fun none the less. Having thought I would be up north on Saturday, I instead found myself in Wimbledon, catching up with not only Nick Evans, but also Bob Aldous. Having not seen either of them for quite a while, it was lovely to spend an afternoon with them at last. As it was only lunch, it made for a later than usual start, so everything about the day was very relaxing for once. Bob and Nicky are great friends and such wonderful company. I did however manage to pop in and see Renu before I headed back, quite literally turning up on his doorstep and ringing the doorbell, but he seemed pleased by my visit.

Sunday was yet another relaxing pub lunch, although busier. I dragged (not quite kicking and screaming), Kitty to Aldbourne (remember that place dear reader?) for a reunion event of a certain Doctor Who episode that was filmed there. A it wasn’t quite a full day event, we began with a very relaxed pub lunch, catching up with a lot of the Fantom crew, before the event itself. It was odd to be a punter, rather than a helper, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It was only a mall, but very well-planned event, with Katy, Richard, John and Damaris in attendance. They each gave something of a tour around the village before signings and various talks, however everything about the day was very relaxed. Come the end of the event, it was back to the pub with the Fantom lot in true convention style, before heading back to Cardiff after a very special day.
