A week of going back and forth

Well dear reader various events and projects have meant I'm rather behind, so I shall start with Saturday.

Saturday began with a nice drive with Jason (one of the other Fantom helpers), for this month's Chiswick signing, which was busy as ever, although my first guests didn't turn up, so it was surprisingly quiet to start with which was nice. Afterwards I sat with Sonny Caldinez who I'd wanted to meet for years and he did not disappoint, such a lovely man. Afterwards as ever we went to the pub around the corner for a few drinks and a very nice meal.

Sunday began with a cooked breakfast (the joys of a hotel) before heading over to meet Nick (Evans, the Dalek) for a catch-up and lunch which was a delight as ever. By the time I we finished Dad was in London and we went for a lovely meal in Ealing.

The focal point of my week, for want of a better word, was Monday, namely Peter's funeral. It was a gorgeously sunny day and all seemed to go to plan and whilst it was a sad occasion, it was so lovely to be amongst so many people who all knew and adored Peter. The entire day was spent in such an atmosphere of shared fondness and happiness which was so very touching (and we had a few Daleks, naturally). I think we did Peter proud, I hope we did anyway.

After what was a few busy days it was a final cooked breakfast of the week on Tuesday before Dad and I wandered over to the National to see at rather short notice, 'The Great Wave', a new play in the Dorfman at the NT. As ever a lovely time, also meeting David Yip, who was in the show. The show was fantastic, very strong writing and directing looking at the relationship between Japan and North Korea in the 80s, through the eyes of a Japanese family; very eye opening indeed. I then found myself heading back to Cardiff for my final lecture (ever!).

Wednesday was my final lecture, although it was actually a presentation for an events project of a hypothetical wedding which seemed to go well. I'd never realised quite how much there was to organise so I was very glad to see the back of it and with it my final lecture meaning that I now only have one more placement and then that's me done.

Having been to the National on Tuesday, Thursday Sam and I say 'The Dad's Army Radio Hour' an hour and half of 'Dad's Army' radio plays, with two actors voicing all 28 parts, in three stories, which were all fantastic to say the least. I can not recommend the show highly enough although it is very much a southern tour, going no further north than Leicester which is a shame. Afterwards I spoke to both the actors (surprise, surprise, one had done Who, who'd have guessed) both of whom were so enthusiastic about the show and charming to talk to.

You may wonder about the title of this week's post dear readers as so far there has not been much travelling. However as ever come Saturday I wandered to London for two weeks (reasons to follow next week otherwise there'll be nothing to write). I am staying in Frank's flat for a few weeks which is very kind of him. He was there to meet me on the Saturday and we had a lovely weekend. Easter Sunday we went out for a meal at the local pub which was very nice and enjoyed a few lovely walks around Richmond Park, as well as having a very relaxing weekend in general which made for a welcome change.
