Eastbourne and other adventures

Having arrived in Eastbourne Sunday evening, Monday was spent exploring. Whilst I set out with a slightly more structured plan of what I wanted to see, I soon got lost and ended up wandering (not that I'm complaining), making it to the Wish Tower and the art gallery (but that was closed). Much of the day was spent exploring charity and book shops and being nosey, reminding myself of Eastbourne. That night Jess and I watched 'Spy' a fantastically funny spy film (what a surprise); we both laughed an awful lot, well worth a watch.

However Tuesday was rather different as I headed off to London to meet with a sound recordist. I deliberately got there early so as to be able to have a wander round before meeting him at 14.00. Before either of us realized four and a half hours had passed (he has done an awful lot), and we headed over to the Warner Brothers De Lane Lea Studios (where they do all the post production and dub for their UK films) for this month’s meeting of AMPS so I was able to chat to all sorts of interesting sound people (and all the posters from what was recorded there were quite something). Whilst it became a very late night it was well worth it.

The rest of the week returned to the theme of Monday, somewhat. With Wednesday being a trip to Brighton to explore areas that I'd missed last time, including the Pavilion (that was really just a sit down for sandwiches not really and explore), as well as lots of wonderful antique and book shops (there's a theme here) and naturally a walk along the beach. That night we watched 'Mindhorn' which again was hilarious! Such a wonderful pastiche of 70s detective shows and again very funny.

Following the theme, Hastings was my location for wanders on Thursday, again exploring antique and book shops. However they have funiculars (google it) which was exciting so instead of having the windblown through me on the beach (which I'd already done that day) I was on top of a hill. It was quite something looking down on Hastings, it really is beautiful. On route from Hastings, I stopped off at Bexhill and, you guessed, look in lots of antiques and book shops, as well as looking around the Delaware (an art gallery). I met Jess from work and we went for a lively meal in Bill's (that's a new one on me, but well worth it), before a lovely walk back along the seafront.

My wanders came to an end as I had to head home on Friday. However as I passed through London I caught up with Martin at the CAA which was lovely and they do great food. Following our catch-up (and we brought a kettle, but that's another story) continued my journey up north and met Jess as the station.

Saturday was supposed to have been a trip in a hot air balloon as a belated birthday present for Mum, however the weather put a stop to that. So instead it was spent catching up on sleep after a few busy weeks and unpacking, as was Sunday.
