Jess discovers the north (again)
After what seems like for ever this was my
final week of the holidays (it seems to have flown by). Much of the week was
spent doing errands ready to head back to Cardiff, whilst also trying show Jess
parts of the 'north'.
Tuesday was a trip to Gladstone Pottery
Museum, somewhere I've not been for years, but nothing had changed. As ever we
spent a good part of the visit painting, both a hedgehog and a tortoise
(ceramic ones I hasten to add).
Much of the rest of the week was various
errands as I say. However these did including baking (not as successful as
usual) but more importantly a trip to the Royal Exchange, for what felt like
the first time in ages. This week's show was 'Our Town'. I went with no clue
what it was bar the title and that one of our third year actors from last year
was in it. The show was semi-staged in that it was done as though we were
watching a rehearsal which was something I'd not seen for a while and worked.
The story itself was about the town not the people so at various stages we
jumped ahead in time or backwards creating a varied linking narrative.
Despite a quiet week come Saturday Jess and
I wandered off to London. We started with a quick trip to a signing event,
meeting amongst others an incredible stuntman called Rocky Taylor who seems to
have done just about everything (I mean everything!). We then had a wander
across to Trafalgar Square, saw the daisies in the National Gallery and a
general wander, before heading back (both rather tired), via the Harry Potter
shop.
Sunday was the inevitable drive back down
to Cardiff ready for another busy term.
