A return to the New Vic
I think it is safe to say dear reader that my week has been
focused around a show I’m doing, ‘MavERICk’, this year’s summer show for the
legend that is Uncle Eric. It’s been a fair while since I was last at the New
Vic but it’s great to be back. As ever this show has its usual mix of 60s hits
and jokes, but this time set in the Wild West. The show runs for two weeks at
the New Vic, so that’ll keep me busy (and humming the songs!). With my evenings
busy at the New Vic, my days are spent pottering around at home or (if I’m
feeling adventurous) wandering into town or perhaps even the garden (I don’t
like to overdo it as you’ve probably guessed dear reader).
Now at this point dear reader I would write ‘and come
Saturday I wandered off to …’, but with a show you may think dear reader that
this didn't happen this week, but oh no, it did. We (Dad and I) wandered off to
Derby (I know, exotic!) for ‘Whooverville 8’, a smallish event which has
been going for eight years now (see what they did with the title of the event,
clever), yet we’d never been. Anyway, it was a nice event with some really good
guests. and some interesting talks. One of the highlights was meeting the
delightful, Graham Cole (he was in the Bill, unless you wish me to reel off his
Doctor Who stories dear reader), who surprisingly remembered me during his talk
and referred to me (and Dad) a few times. It was also great to meet Janet, Katy
and Sophie again and their final panel together was outrageous! After a great
day in Derby we dashed back to the Vic for ‘MavERICk’. As ever, Sunday was
spent catching up on things (mainly sleep).
