Not such a quiet week as I expected (thankfully)

If I remember correctly dear reader I finished last week's entry saying that I hope something happened this week, otherwise it could be a very short entry. Thankfully, a few things did happen (unlucky dear reader it means you've got more to read, or I suppose you could just stop here).
Anyway, the first half of the week was spent in the garden (it was sunny, a rare sight) cutting the hedges (exciting I know). Whilst you may not think it was particularly noteworthy dear reader, it was surprisingly satisfying and I keep looking at the garden and thinking it looks very tidy. Besides that my week has been fairly uneventful I must say, other than going for an eye test (the height of excitement I know). We did however, go to see the new Jason Bourne film on Thursday (Dad and I). Whilst I enjoyed it, it seemed very much to be one long action sequence with a car chase, but then I suppose it was always going to be difficult to develop the character further, from what was already a very intricate and carefully consider plotline in the first three films.
As ever my weekend was far more eventful as I (with Mum and Dad) wandered off to comic con in Sheffield (exotic I know). Just Mum and I did comic con on the Saturday, which was Mum's first ever experience of such an event which I think she seemed to enjoy (or at the very least appreciate it). We went along just for one chap, Rupert Vansittart, someone who I seem to keep missing at events, so I was very glad to finally meet him and what a lovely chap he was and very happy to talk about Who (remember David Verrey from the National dear reader, he was in the same episode). After introducing Mum to comic con, we went into Sheffield itself and wandered about the city (it’s actually rather nice). We happened to wander past the stage door for the Lyceum just as they put out a barrier so we stayed and the cast for the show came out. I should at this point explain dear reader that we came to Sheffield to see 'No Man's Land' and then we tagged on comic con. It was a slightly busier stage door than usual (I'm not sure why I was surprised considering who the cast were). We managed to meet all four of the cast, all of whom were delightful, in particular Owen Teale. The shows self was quite something. I was immediately stuck by the set design which was beautiful, especially as we were quite high up so we could see it all. As for the acting and the play, well what can I say. With such a stunning cast, namely Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen leading the show as one would expect it was fantastic. It is quite a quiet play centring around two characters, two old friends, chatting, which I think could be quite uninteresting if not done well, but that was not the case at all. Stewart and McKellen knew how to play the two old friends and I think the real art was that they knew how to play the pauses. It really was a brilliant play, I'm very pleased that I've seen it.
After a rather late return home, we (Dad and I) went back to Sheffield (it was that good we wanted to go back) for day two of comic con. This time to meet a gentleman called George Roubicek (he's done all sorts, google him) as well as listening to a Q&A with Richard, Katy and Debbie which as ever was very entertaining. Following our return trip to Sheffield we headed back home, after a rather busy few days.
