The Waiting Room
So, another
week has passed (quite where it has gone I don’t know, thinking back it’s a bit
of a blur!).

The main
focus of my week has been ‘The Waiting Room’ I show I’ve been working on for
the last few months with The Theatre Space. Having been working on it since
July, this was the week that we opened, running for three nights. As with any
show, having worked on it for months the first night is always the most nerve-wracking
as it is the first time an outside eye, who knows nothing about the show, sees
it and tells us if the show is actually any good, but Thursday’s audience seemed
to like it (I lie, we had a few unexpected audience members for our dress/tec
on Wednesday, so Thursday was a little less nerve-wracking). Two days later and
it was Saturday, our final show, which seemed to similarly go down well, so
well in fact that the write, Phil Lightfoot, came not only on the opening night
(talk about pressure, and he was sat two seats away from me!) that he came back
on Saturday. All those that I spoke to seemed to enjoy it, so I think we did a
good job (any complaints please keep to yourself). Saturday was not only the
last performance of ‘The Waiting Room’, but my last show with The Theatre Space
as I wander off to university next week. Having worked with them for a few
years I was sad to finish the show, but I hope (pretty please Rich) that I’ll
be working with them again at some point. Following the show we (those of us
who didn’t have to be responsible and go back to our families) went out in
Winsford (an interesting experience, as I’m still not sure where Winsford
actually is, any suggestions in the comments below please).
Away
from the excitement of ‘The Waiting Room’ I’ve pottered around the house as I (mostly
my mum, thanks) sorted out moving to uni. I won’t bore you with a blow by blow
account of finding everything on my list, so we’ll skip that bit (do let me
know
if you’d be interested in this though). Wednesday was a nice trip back to
school to ‘checkup’ on them and how things are going. Having started to work on
‘Les Mis’ in June I caught up on how things were going, but also what everyone had
been up to. It was nice to pop in and see everyone, but odd to no longer be a
pupil there. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon (they even fed me! I’ll definitely
be going back), but was the first of many good byes as I wander off. I’m sure I
will be back there in December.
Saturday
morning was a trip to Blackpool (it’s really not as exciting as I had hoped)
for a convention. After queueing for an hour (one of my few special skills!) I
met four actors who had been in Doctor Who: Jeremy Wilkin, Alan Ruscoe, Sarah Louise
Madison and David Graham (no, not the one from Uncle Eric!). All had played
various parts in Doctor Who, from the voice of the original Daleks, to a Weeping
Angel (two were also the original voices in Thunderbirds!). Whilst it was
rather busy, I had an enjoyable trip out. We (Dad and I) wandered around
Blackpool (I saw wandered, more like blown along the sea front!), to then head
back for ‘The Waiting Room’.

PS.
I see that a few people have stumbled across this blog (probably by mistake),
but thanks for having a look and I hope my musings and wanderings are of some
interest.
