Early days of television & women in television
As you may have
guessed dear reader the focus of the week has been television (not much has
really happened I must admit). My college work has been very much focused on a
project for which I am looking at the development of television production over
the last 50 years (mainly as I am generally interested and I already know a lot
about it) so I’ve read a few (yes you read that right, a FEW) books on the top
and am now full of even more useless facts about television.
Wednesday (as I’m sure
you were aware dear reader) was international women’s day. BAFTA Cymru put on
an event about women in television. Helen Raynor and Catherine Treganne (yep
both Doctor Who and Torchwood writers, well done for noticing dear
reader) talked about their career and their thoughts on women in the
industry. It made for a fascinating talk (I don’t think Jess was so impressed)
and yes, I did catch them afterwards for an autograph and a quick chat (would
you expect anything less of me dear reader).
Saturday I caught up
with Helen and Dad as they were down watching the rugby and we went for a very
nice pizza, before they headed back up north (transporting the tuba
from ‘Dying For It’ with them).
Oh and I think there should be an honorary mention to Joe and I randomly wandering into Cardiff castle in a sombrero, because why now!
