A final week up north (for now anyway)

Hopefully I'll actually post this on time dear readers (we live in hope don't we). It seems to have been a busier than usual week as I try to do far too much.

Monday was spent working/catching-up with Rich as he moves the Theatre Space into its new home. It marks the end of three years in the old space, but the new venue looks like it'll be even better. It bigger, better and brighter (quite literally we've been painting). With the removals men arriving on Wednesday the old space will be empty, a sad sight indeed. Following a busy say, I had expected a quieter day on Tuesday spent mainly packing, but as a lovely surprise a few friends from school dropped in (not literally, they're not Father Christmas). We had a great catch-up and realized they're courses are rather complicated in comparison to mine.

Now you may ask dear reader why I was packing, well Wednesday saw me wander off to London to stay with my dear friend, Peter Miles. Having popped in to see him but not for long over the previous few months, it was nice to spend a few days with him. Peter is a great lover of comedy so we ended-up watching an awful lot of Ken Dodd (I'm not complaining at all). As always seems to be the case when staying with Peter, time flew by and it was soon Friday and I had to say goodbye. On my way home however I caught up with an actor, previously Stage Manager, called Ian Marshall-Fisher. We'd met a few times earlier last year (he has been a Cyberman) and at our last meeting exchanged email addresses. It just so happened that we were both free and had chance for a catch-up. We ended up spending most of the afternoon talking about the joys of stage management which was fascinating in a new part of London, for me.

Saturday was supposed to have been spent heading back to Cardiff, but instead I spent the day working with Rich sorting out his new lights (exciting) and painting the last few walls of the new space, before the grand opening a week on Saturday. However Sunday was a return trip to Cardiff, but I had to dump my things and head out to Chapter for a preview screening ‘The Lying Detective’ this week’s Sherlock episode. The episode was fantastic, Sherlock at its best with all sorts of twists and clever plot lines. The screening was followed by a very interested Q&A with a number of the cast and crew (a few Doctor Who names but I missed them sadly). It was a great event and a brilliant way to see the episode and catch-up with a few friends, within hours of returning to Cardiff.
