Another rather silly week

I'm getting ahead of myself a little this week (it's actually Saturday evening as I write this). Once again I'm left to think what on earth I have done this week.
The highlight of the college week has been two days at workshop, learning (mainly forgetting) how to tie various knots, as well as how to move (and drop) flats and putting up steeldeck (I say put up, I mean organizing/watching other do it).

Our ongoing project is our BA1 project, ‘Star Wars Night (I said I’d explain about this at some point, happy now dear reader). Our mission is to create a Star Wars themed night, basically for free (they’ve promised us some money, but only if we have to spend). We’ve divided ourselves into groups, each with our own venue to play with. Myself and a few others have been given the main venue, to dress as Mos Eisley Cantina (the Star Wars cantina, but you knew that’s what it’s called, didn’t you dear reader). Its proving to be an interesting challenge as we realize we have an awful lot of space to fill, with not a great deal of stuff! However Cait (I still can’t spell your name right Cait, sorry if you ever read this) produced a rather wonderful scale drawing/plan, so we’re getting there (I would like to point out that I supervised/advised the drawing, I didn’t just sit there drinking tea. As if I’d ever do that …). As part of the project we are rewatching the films (isn’t this project hard!) and I’m contacting the odd actor from the film, to see if they fancy wandering over to Cardiff. If anyone reading this happens to have been involved in the films in anyway, or knows someone with props ‘n’ stuff, do drop me a line.
A further note worth event of the week is that one of my flat mates (I won’t name and shame him) managed to get locked in his room. Attempts were made to drill him out, before he managed to force the lock, but it kept me entertained for an hour (what a muppet!).

A few of the lovely people I met on
Saturday (Derren Nesbitt, Louise Pajo,
Catherine Schell & Danny Webb)
Friday night marked another instalment of #Mooreontour (thanks to Rodger Moore for that one), as I wandered back home for a silly Saturday. Silly Saturday comprised of not one, but two events! Firstly we (Dad and I) went to the Disappearing Planet Earth event to meet all sorts of Doctor Who people (although as per, we had to stand in the very windy streets of Blackpool beforehand). I think it must be one of the few events at which I managed to meet someone from a 1963 story (Derren Nesbitt, Tegana in ‘Marco Polo’), right up to the modern series (Danny Webb, Jefferson ‘The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit’). As ever, everyone was lovely to meet and chat to. However, Dad was most excited to meet Toyah (google her dear reader, I’m told she was a pop star in the 80s).
Having finished at Blackpool we dashed to Manchester for ‘Back to the Eighties’, a delightful DWAS (google it) event. I’d pestered primarily to meet Louise Pajo (Gia Kelly in ‘The Seeds of Death’) as she was making a rare UK appearance (ooh!). She was wonderful to meet, and fascinating to talk to. Due to being the first in the photo queue and early, I had a lovely long chat with her. It was quite a contrast to go from the mornings signing, to a convention with panels, but a good one. As at any DWAS event, it was very friendly and relaxed; as ever, Colin Baker was on fine form!

Following the event, we planned to watch tonight’s (remember I’m writing this on Saturday) Doctor Who episode, at the ‘Fab Café’, however with other people talking (how dare they), we left and watched it at home instead. I really enjoyed this week’s story, I could see why last weeks had been a little rushed in places, so as to set up this weeks.
Sunday in contrast has proved to be rather quiet, simply traveling home really. However I returned to the rather wonderful baking from two flat mates, Helena (the one who likes hats) and Ben (he also likes hats). They're entry for flat bake off was rather good, but I'm sure won't last very long!
