Catching up on my weekends (mainly lots of wanders)

Well dear reader, should anyone still be looking for updates about my musing I thought I should put something together (this would have gone up sooner but I have been without Wi-Fi for some time now, but that is a different story). I now find myself working on projects that I can't talk about and thus the majority of my entries would otherwise be 'I've done lots but I can't talk about it yet but come the weekend ...'. Thus, I think I will post every few weeks about what my weekends have involved to save the repetition and so that I actually have something to say. In all honesty I'm having to think exactly what I've done since ballooning as that feels like a very long time ago.

Perhaps the first thing of note is that I've signed for a flat (I know, never thought that would happen). I'll be down by the Bay by the end of the month which will be nice. More to follow on that exciting news at some point.

The following week I enjoyed my monthly trip to Chiswick (battling Royal Wedding traffic which wasn't fun). As ever a great day, not only enjoying the company of the guests (always a joy) but also the Fantom family. It was lovely to see Keith Guest again having put him in touch with the boys, but also to spend time with the charming Frances White (voice of grandma pig in Pepper Pig!). Despite the wedding it was a lovely evening in the pub after, particularly with the nice weather.

I decided I wanted to wander off again the following weekend. Early Saturday morning (well not that early), I had coffee (well he had coffee) with the rather legendary Michael Craig (he really has done lots). It was a fascinating chat with a man who not only worked for the best part of 60 years, but also lived in Australia and made a very successful career over there. As if that wasn't enough for the day I dashed back to Cardiff to see a college show (the first in a long time), called 'The Playboy of the Western World', set in a very familiar part of west Ireland. I can't say it was a play I know but was good none the less. My main impetus for going was that one of my house mates from first year had designed it and as ever, she did a great job! That might have sounded like enough for one weekend dear reader, but no. Sunday was spent in Dorset with Frank, partly as a belated birthday lunch, but also as a lovely chance to catch-up with him. I must say that I learnt an awful lot about tennis as Frank is quite the expert. Frank very kindly gave me a few of his water-colours foe my apartment which will certainly take pride of place.

After a weekend off, I felt I needed to do another event, so popped up to the NEC to meet Dad for a day the following weekend. We met, amongst others, Richard Wilson (I know, I didn't believe it either), with whom I had a nice chat about ‘Crown Court’ of all things (he seemed quite pleased). Thankfully it was not an overly busy day, and Dad and I were able to enjoy the day at a slightly slower pace than usual (makes a change). It was also a nice chance to say hello to Michelle Ryan who had been at Chiswick.

In-between all of this I've been working on a film that I can't talk about (yet). Six weeks on that formed the end of my time at uni (at last). Hopefully I can share a few pics and waffle about it next year (although I'll probably have forgotten everything by then). I can say that they gave me a cake on my last day!

Having finished uni, it so happened that Utopia (weekend event in Oxfordshire) fitted in perfectly. As ever such a warm and friendly weekend, with the guests being more like friends. Whilst I was busy sat with guests or interviewing (first public interviews), Dad enjoyed another leisurely weekend even if he never did make it to the pool. As ever a great range of guests, perhaps most of note was Julian Glover and Rula Lenska, however I had the great pleasure to interview George Layton, Giles Block and Gilbert Wynne. It was perfect weather for a weekend away to say the least, but then in no time at all it came to an end, but then not long until next years!

With the end of the film (for me anyway), I started a job (yes an actual paid job, with time sheets and everything) on the Monday after Utopia. Again, I can't talk about it (twice in one entry I've said that), but it is a TV series which will take me through to December which'll be nice and so far has been great fun. However, that didn't stop me, and come Saturday I was off to London to see Dee in 'An Honourable Man' at the White Bear (fringe theatre, Google it as they have some good stuff). It was a fascinating political play in which Dee was very much the moral compass. Afterwards we had a good catch-up (seems to be a theme to my weekends) and were joined by a few of the cast which was lovely.
