Utopia and the Ratman
At last I've written this week (well last week's) entry (I got there in the
end!).
As ever the majority of my week was spent
in college working on my current show 'Shelley and the Ratman'. I am sound
designer for the show which has proved to be interesting (I'm not a great
expert on sound). It does however mean that I get to spend long days outside in
the sun which is lovely (I know, sun in Cardiff, who's have thought it).
Adam and I did find time to pop to filming
on Tuesday for an hour or so and just caught them finishing off, as they return
from a short break. We followed it up with a lovely wander around the Bay
(there may be a picture to prove my point if I can find it).
As ever though, come the weekend and I
wandered off, this weekend my destination was Utopia, in Oxfordshire. I met Dad
on the Friday evening and we stayed in our usual B&B, the Swan Lodge, which
is very quaint and homely (I think it is part of the appeal of Utopia). Utopia
is a two day event with a lot going on. On Saturday we met all sorts of people,
including the lovely Margot Hayhoe and Roger Bunce. We did a fair few
commentaries (everyone sits and watches a story and the person involved talks
about working on it. A bit like having you're gran or someone talking over the
TV, but this time it’s actually relevant). Sunday was then more of the same,
although we didn't do quite so many commentaries, more stage talks. Perhaps one
of the best talks was from Darrol Blake (a director) and Nicholas McArdle (an
actor). As ever Utopia was a great and relaxing weekend away for both of us. So
much so that I have already impulsively brought tickets for next year!
