Rugby & Strangness in Space

After last week’s excitement at making props, this week we are back on less creative lectures, having been set sound, lighting and props projects, alongside an essay (such fun!).
Amongst the excitement of projects I managed to see the wrong film at the cinema (don't ask) and watched a live game of rugby (as in I actually sat in a stadium). Having been in Cardiff now since September, I finally got around to seeing a game of Rugby in the home of Welsh Rugby on Friday. Friday’s game was Wales v. France. It was quite an experience watching the game in stadium, as I hadn’t realized quite how big it is to start, but I really enjoyed it, even if I wasn’t always sure what was going on.
Catching up with Sophie and Clare, talking 'Strangeness in Space'
As ever, the weekend was spent wandering around the country. Saturday was not one, but two signings, one in barking and the other at Olympia. Whilst I spent a silly amount of time on trains and the underground, it was worth it, as I finally met Frances Barber and Henry Woolf. Whilst LFCC was surprisingly quiet this time, I was unexpectedly able to catch up with Clare, who I worked with on ‘The Minister of Chance’. She is currently producing a free audio series called ‘Strangeness in Space’, which seems to be going from strength to strength. Do have a listen dear reader (it’s free!) (http://strangenessinspace.com/episodes/). I then popped home for the evening, ready for a trip to Sheffield on Sunday.
Before Christmas, Sam and I had written a panto for a local group in Sheffield, which was performed on Saturday. Having written it so long ago, I couldn’t remember what it was about, but it made us laugh, so as far as we were concerned it was a success. Amongst the cast were Sam’s sisters and his Mum and it was nice to see them (I hope) enjoying it. As well as seeing the panto, I was introduced to the rest of Sam’s family who were all very nice (they even fed me). One of Sam’s sisters gave me a lovely painting that she had done for me, which was very sweet. Following the panto, by weekend ended as it had started, with another long train journey (I’m getting very use to these now!).
